Just got a call from Monica Saenz, one of our lovely attorneys. Ms. Janice Warder [the D.A. in Cooke County] has returned her call. Monica tried to reason with her, telling all about Naz’s recovery, his heart for our community, all the change that has happened in his life, his full-time job, his new marriage [me:)]… Monica offered to send Janice the application packet we put submitted for Humanitarian Parole in the beginning of all this; the packet included all of the support letters that were sent to their office. Janice said she wants to review it but that her best and final offer still includes a sentence of 3 years prison with eligibility for parole, whereas Naz will then be transported back to ICE custody to await another Immigration hearing. I’m still not okay with this, and I trust that God isn’t finished with it. It ain’t over til it’s over!!!
IF YOU HAVEN’T SUBMITTED A SUPPORT LETTER, OR WANT TO SEND ONE SPECIFICALLY FOR MS. WARDER, PLEASE DO NOW!!! We are reopening this case due to the fact that Nazry was not properly informed of the extremity of the consequences that his plea bargain would have on his immigration status in 2007.
We need to stress that we need him HOME, and NOW. Not 3 years, not 1 year from now. There is no REASON for him to be wasting any MORE taxpayer dollars than he already has. There is no program in there that he could complete that he hasn’t already; college, work ethics, relationships, etc. This whole process has been a ridiculous waste of our tax dollars. Texas is no safer with Naz behind bars.
